Phil Woods, one of the finest alto saxophonist in the history of jazz. One of my favorites

This is an amazing piece!

does anyone know what mouthpiece, reed, and ligature Phil Woods is using? thanks

I am mystified at the cult of sax makers displayed on here. Phil Woods would be spectacular on a 1930s Harwood. Some of the worst players I have heard have unfortunately used their dad's money to purchase a Selmer of some sort. Yamaha is a stellar alto.

Goodness, you guys take in too much hearsay. Phil played a gold plated Mark VI he hand picked from the factory. Basically, he had one of the best horns on the planet. Eventually, one day he felt that he just couldn't get the horn in tune and his sound was raspy (maybe getting older?) and he decided to try the modern horns. He was blown away with some of the modern technologies but he missed his old sound and found the 82Z captured it best.
