This is my personal tribute to the greatest jazz a cappella group that ever was (and ever will be). Everything you hear is done with the voice, no musical instruments involved. Amazing!
Vox One was a great jazz group that just happened to sing a cappella. They were all products of the Berklee School of Music, a Boston school renowned for turning out great jazz musicians. Vox One is true to the tradition: their performances always included improvisation. Every album this incredible group produced resulted in numerous Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award nominations for music and for the singers themselves; in 1998, the international panel of CARA judges voted Vox One Contemporary A Cappella Artists of the Year. Three former members are now on the faculty of Berklee, and after some reunion concerts the group produced a new CD (Pure Imagination) in 2006.
