India sees a new global crisis manager in Obama

Barack Obamas victory epitomises the journey of an African American to the White House. His victory has become a source of inspiration for a whole new generation. The results of US Presidential elections have raised both fresh hopes and reservations for the people across the globe. The democratic win may not sound like music to the ears of Indian BPO industry. Even though Manmohan Singh may have endorsed Obamas triumph nothing can disguise the fact that this victory will certainly have disturbing prospects for Indian outsourcing industry. Protectionism has been riding high on democratic political agenda. Obamas comments too have cleared the air in this context. The fact that he has pledged to include labor standards in free trade agreements can be seen as a means of shielding American companies from competition overseas. Tumbling shares of Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro combined with the cutbacks in outsourcing industry due to reduced spending by American financial services firms the going would be tough for this sector.

  • Guys, its wrong to say Americans are lazy or Chinese are more efficient. Its a globalized economy. If the US stops outsourcing, the Chinese can screw US by increasing lending rates. Similarly, India is actually a huge market for the US. If you're in India you will find every american product from GM, ford, Pepsi, coke etc. But you wont find all indian products in the US, no matter how good they are. So if protectionist measures are implemented here, we here in the US can face the same thing.

  • let me tell you something y american people hate outsourcing!!! americans are lazy and odnt want to do work like indians and chinese so they loose their jobs and then cry!! if u guys work hard like indians and chinese then u guys wont loose job. americans also demand more money and bonuses which indians dont.!!

  • I think you should read more about the subject before you pass comment. If us stops outsourcing americans will loose lot more jobs and us economy will crash. I know why i am saying this so you should go figure yourself or ask me. Dont talk emotional stuff cause there is no place for emotion in international politics. Outsourcing is not about some rich guy wanna be more rich. Please get educated about this topic. Ask yourself why GM is bankrupt and how many will lose job cause of that.

  • outsourcing is not fair to the american ppl. how would any other country feel if their family members were losing their job because some rich jackass want to save a few dollars by sending a job to another country for cheaper labor. thats why unemployment in the u.s is rising and the usd has lost value. it also isn't fair to the ppl of india and mexico because thy are not getting the pay its worth.
