  • @hortulanus94 here in europe where we have been ruuning hst for some time now the competition is with the airlines, who have steadily lost out especially on journey times between 2/3 hrs.

It is faster to travel between london & paris by rail than to fly.

The longer you spend arguing about it the more it will cost.

  • the united states is in need of a high speed rail system. As much as I love planes, major metropolitan areas could use some de-congestion in the skies, especially in the years to come.

  • @dpjaexp I think you need to do a little more homework...With the two projected rail paths it will destroy hundreds of homes and dairy farms in my county alone. Bakersfield,Tulare, Hanford Fresno, Madera, and Chowchilla are already on board against this outrageous project. The jobs are only promised until it is built, there won;t be as many jobs as soon as it is built. They are not using the trains for agriculture transportation. Why spend money we don't have in a state already hurting?

  • @bsquadrider It's not going to destroy thousands of homes. It's going to make property values skyrocket in ANY municipality located near a station and create thousands and thousands of new jobs. California's excellent produce and wines will move further afield, in less time, clearing up the air Californians breathe. Californians can most definitely afford this system and it will assure the state's economic viability in the North American Pacific Rim. California can't afford not to build it.

  • Those trains look like TGVs, so I'm guessing they'll be manufactured by Alstom. Good choice.

  • Can't wait to get on the fastest train of the US soon. Please speed up, time is running out. The longer you wait the more it costs.

  • This tour will destroy $100 MILLION in AG. That $100 M in AG feeds 80% of America and it will destroy fertile land that we cant get back! The High Speed Rail Authority only has enough money to lay TRACKS in the Central Valley. They do not have money to put a train on those tracks, they do now have money to eletrify those tracks and they do not have money to finish the rail from the CV to LA or to SF and San Deigo is off the table. The Gov is cutting transportation buses to schools to fund this!

  • @tickyul They're so stupid. They fail to realize that a TRUE free market can build a high speed rail system. We could save so much money if we just used common sense.

  • @will101page Totally agree. We cannot afford this. Btw, not all of California is smoggy. :) San Francisco is one of the greenest cities in the country! I think we should just let some private companies build this and then operate themselves. There should be at least 2 lines with a different company so there is competition -- lower prices. :)

  • I hope they have the traditional Nathan K5LA on it and not a hybrid.
