Kessy is born in the United States, California. At the age of 10, his mother married a French West Indian from Martinique. He lived there for 7 years before coming to France. He was doing some beat boxing before he got interested in singing R&B and reggae-dancehall. He started by interpreting famous tunes of stars such as Akon or Sean Paul before releasing his own single 'I need a girl'. He became known thanks to videos of fans put online on the internet. Some people says that he is the new French Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder, even if he is born in the United States.
