We have to an extent, as certain behaviors are deemed illegal (IE child pornography), but to go to the point of monitoring the economy to where it is ideally moral, would be a GREAT debate that would have many opinions.

This fraud of a philosopher shouldn't be associated with big think, ever.

@Tallaias Explain why you feel our current situation is the result of heavy regulation? Because I can cite many examples of how over the past 30 years, USA has deregulated a lot of markets especially under Reagan and Clinton.

@raspberrymuffin Since the economy permeates and dictates so much that we do in our lives, the question then becomes should we try to work on an economic system that is moral?

@skydome29 Friedman's a socialist now, redistributing his wealth to trees and daisies. Every last molecule.

A mixed economy which we currently live in is the only way to go. To be 100% socialist or capitalist would be bad. Not saying a mixed economy is perfect, it's just the better option in availing of the benefits from both.
The problem we have now is not too much socialism or capitalism or lack there of. The problem is an abuse of power and bad management in both the private and public sectors. But how do we tackle this problem?
