I'm going through a few of the settings i use to get a more filmic look when using the Canon EOS 550D/Rebel T2i, and mostly i talk about the shutter speed.

ISO, Artificial Light Flickering and ND Filters i will talk about in next segment. I improvised so im sorry if it didnt turn out too good, but some people will probably find the info useful. If you have any ideas or questions for the next segment, dont hesitate to post those questions here.

  • 0:58 a piece of hair is sticking out! aha :)

    thanks for the helpful vid.

  • @jaamil30 Haha.. yeah, didnt fix my hair before recording... You are very welcome :D

  • Ryan, thanks a lot for explaining the settings and tricks. It really helped me a lot. At least I understand and can record better quality vids. I want to get a shoulder rig and separate LCD monitor. Would you recommend that or LCDVF better?

  • @strannik Hello. Its great to hear that the video helped out. I will hopefully do another one in the near future. The shoulder rig is a great help at a low cost if you get the cheap one that is available on ebay. It cost around 20-40 USD. Separate monitor can be nice, but it would cost you some money if you want a high quality HD monitor, and in that case i would recommend a viewfinder like the LCDVF or a clone. Thats cheaper and will help you pull focus easier.

  • @brandonlamarmusic Well, firstly i didn't aim for the artistic look with this improvised video. Secondly, it's pretty dark where I'm sitting and also I'm using the sanyo for this. I couldn't use the light sensitive canon for this could I? Thanks for your comment although it's a pretty useless comment regarding the intention of the film, but if you're up for it and lend me a few bucks I'll rent a red camera next time. :)

  • So if i understand you right, you can't change the ISO, just the Shutter Speed?

  • thanks for the exposure meter tip! very helpful.

  • Great!

  • What kind of viewfinder do you use, it appears to be quick and without the cost of the Zucata or whatever it is called. Nick

  • @xXPye Its ok I have a 550d with 50mm 1.8 now. Thanks anyway.

  • @xXPye i meant the mm on the ring... i picked up the nifty 50 and got a free nd2 with it not bad for a vintage look through the digital i must say
