Congressman Geoff Davis [KY-4] explains his bill, H.R. 10, the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act. For more information, visit: http://geoffdavis.house.gov/REINS.
@discipleofsakura Fannie and Freddie forced bad loans. Dodd and Frank's hands are all over the beginnings of the mess. You might want to think about ALL Gov't regs, not just the ones that fit your worldview.
After the financial crisis of 2008, when I hear someone calling for loosening banking regulations I just dismiss them as ignorant of the facts. I do, however, find it astonishing that a congressman would suggest that banks are in need of deregulation. This is just a case of a politician dismissing facts and evidence in order to preserve his ideology. Unbelievable.
Stricter environmental regulations is forcing the closure of Johnson Valley to off-highway vehicles. It's the most popular off-roading area in California, and Senator Diane Feinstein wants it closed because it offends her sensibilities.
What will this do to the recreational vehicle industry, to Jeep enthusiasts, to dirt bike riders? THIS is the sort of stupid regulations that GOP rails about.
I agree that run-away home loans are a problem. But there are many problems.. out of space :(
Did your assistant shoot this on an iPhone? this poorly produced piece of "video" did an equally poor job explaining the bill.

I wonder how much he would have pushed for something like this when Bush was in office.
And isn't it interesting how unregulated business is exactly what got us into this Recession to begin with?
