What's disappointing is, even Celine Dion uses it.

I agree. Auto Tune is plastic surgery for the voice. Although, some talented singers use it, such as Chase Coy, and Say Anything. Both sound good with and without it.

from what I can tell it's "supposed" to be make-up, and some artists are using it as plastic surgery.

I always appreciate a good live sound. Something a little off but natural is more pleasing to me than something perfect but not live

evanescence and linkin park live are very good- natural sounding. Sure on CD or radio it sounds "better" but neither are extremely different, and both good.
