  • I simply love that man's scream! It sort of reminds me of the last time I check my bank balance.

  • Wonder what that hull was actually made of? Big enough (and strong enough) for several people at once to walk around in ... must have taken quite a bit of building! Anyone know if it's still in existence somewhere?

  • It would be great to have The Road re-made by M.Night Shyamanan; the twist at the end is incredibly shocking.

  • Just shows how good tv could be when there were no big-budget special effects to distract the viewer. Nowadays, this would be all multi-million dollar computer effects instead of a good strong story-line and script. Not that this production couldn't have benefited from better FX not to mention better acting, but it was 1955 after all. I was only a school kid when I first saw it. It scared me but I was too young to understand the plot then. Pretty good compared with todays big-budget eye candy.

  • Kneale's writing is SO clever – even the name 'Hobs/Hobbs Lane' makes sense! Hob being a hob goblin.

  • @Krzyszczynski

Long gone, it was made of fibreglass and concrete sections, the hatches etc., added to the fibreglass surfaces.

It does resemble sets used about 10 years later in Dr Who, and it may have been stored at the time, then scrapped.

  • col brean is hyper throughout the series,

so when he turns to stone in the end it comes as no suprise.

great great tv.people had nightmares over this as did the church.

questions were raised in the house.

we watched this when the cold war was at its height, and nuclear war 5 mins away.
