Rikku's Theme - Final Fantasy X (Jazz Quartet Version)

Hey !

I tried to emulate some kind of old jazz quartet for this one, and Rikku's Theme sounds good on it IMO. Even took an improvisation in the middle of it (any jazz fan here will notice I definitely can't play jazz XD ). I learned how to play the brushes for this one, and since I don't own a snare (yet ?), I just used a box.

Your tone in this video, your generally jazzy clean tone is amazing. I must ask how do you achieve such a tone?

First of all, I'm playing on EMG's 81, active mics which allows a very malleable sound. I lowered the treble side of the neck mic, that helps having a jazzy tone. I'm also using a Bass POD Xt on this video. Finally, I'm holding my pick the way Metheny does, using the round edge against the strings. =)

As I said, I used a Bass POD Xt for bass and guitars (back then, I now use a POD X3). I used an AT2020 USB for the brushes.
