Since 1980, Mrs. Evelyn Lowery and SCLC/W.O.M.E.N., Inc. have held the Annual Drum Major for Justice Awards Dinner to commemorate Dr. King's life's work, and pay tribute to our world's present day "Drum Majors" -- individuals who have made significant contributions to advance the causes and work championed by Dr. Martin Luther King. The awards honor those who carry on the spirit the "Drum Major" in the areas of service, justice and achievement in their respective fields.
