Fully agree with you. Problem is with consumer culture is that if you can satisfy your needs. You don't have to care about anyone else who's in need. Of course, not everyone. I don't want to generalise. But truth is that its apparently more important for example what designer bag this person wants than the war in afghanistan. Thats the real madness. Yet, they complain about politicians and they vote for the same people again lol Its a society full of contradictions.
