Enjoyed the comment balloons. Perhaps this was an inspiration for the 1946 cartoons, Rhapsody Rabbit and Cat Concerto, but I don't think the relationship is very close. This is about animation itself, like most early cartoons, and usually strongly musicalized animation. By 1946 the piano could no longer be an animate entity (although still very subject to cartoon physics). The entire look and feel of the gags is different. Still can't deny the roots are here.
