Amelia Mendoza 52 year old nurse was denied professional medical care, at Huntington Hospital, Pasadena in 2009. Amelia suffered injuries that resulted in her falling into a vegetative state. The CNA and iWAR release this ad featuring Mendoza. The California Nurses Association Co-President DeAnn McEwen said, "Meg Whitman praises a broken workers' compensation insurance system that regularly denies care and disability compensation to nurses, nurses assistants, and other injured at work, just like Amelia Mendoza. We want Californians to know whose side Whitman is on."
Amelia was a beloved nurse assistant. I worked with her. Her condition had nothing to do with work. The "mentally disturbed patient" referred to was a 16 year old girl who had an acquired brain injury. We were all attacked by her at some point. The tragic stroke that Amelia suffered from had *nothing* to do with this patient.
I pray for you that you can get past this and accept what happened. As I have stated before, the Amelia I know would be mortified to see this on the internet.

If this is true, I will NOT be voting for Meg Whitman. Arnold destroyed Work Comp in 2004, and those of us who were severely injured even before then have had benefits denied, just like Amelia Mendoza. This system is BROKEN! If Meg Whitman is that ignorant, or just doesn't care about CA. injured workers, she doesn't deserve to be in office!
