Just a tribute to my baby, Lilly. She's almost 2 months old now. She's very very special to me. More special than any pet has ever been. I love her more than anything.
R.I.P. to any of her siblings whom I could not rescue.
My other rat, Marilyn, well to be honest I only got her because I needed her. I do love her to death though. She's a real sweetheart, even though she is still very scared of me.

I made this in memory of little Jack Bittner. The feeder rat my best friend Skyler got from the same reptile expo I got Lilly from. Jack died one night from being a little bit too cold. R.I.P.

By the way, yes, I did get a reptile from the reptile expo. He's a baby bearded dragon named Gerbil...getting him was my intention for going to the expo, but when I saw the rats, something was just telling me I couldn't go home without Lilly, so don't complain to me about how she was too young for me to adopt. It was either I take a chance or she dies certainly.


I do highly reccomend rats as pets. They are a wonderful alternative to a dog or a cat, and they're super friendly and cuddly and fun.
However, if you are interested in getting yourself a rat, please note that you can not get only one: you must have at least two, as rats are very social animals and will get lonely and potentially agressive if they don't have a friend.
Please look up a few caresheets via google to find out everything you need to know about rats before considering purchasing one.
DO NOT think you want a rat just because they are cute! This could lead to very poor ownership. Want a rat because you are willing to take care of it and play with it every day.

I love rats so much. When I have my own job and a little more money, I want to have a rat rescue, to rescue rats like Lilly who wouldn't have a home or be loved otherwise. =]

i'm a member of ssafe haven society which is basically a rescue group for reptiles that have been cruelly treated, but the whole rat feeding thing bugs me, i don't have any snakes at home coz i don't have the heart to kill mice....

That's exactly why I don't have snakes. I have bearded dragons though. Once they get older they will have to eat Pinkies...I will feed them frozen, but never live.

Rats are amazing pets, for sure. My most recent boy is a rescue - after spending over a year in a pet store (I seen him there every month for a year), I couldn't leave him any longer so he came home with me. A lot of behavioural things to work out, being not handled for the majority of the year, but I love him to pieces. Amazing little creatures rats are.
