  • I am not an historian but was a post doctoral fellow at the Institute for Rational-Emotive Therapy in 1970-1970. We had trainees from the Beck Institute attend some of our programs. My understanding is that REBT and CBT are two Seperate by Similar approaches to therapy that were developed INDEPENDENTLY by Ellis and Beck farely closely to each other in time.

  • CBT was not developed by Aaron Beck. Albert Ellis was developing and promoting the cognitive model several years before Beck. That's why Ellis is known as the grandfather of CBT.
