  • I like the Democrats as they seem to be the only party who is independant of the unions, corporations and the church.

Even the Greens are mostly unionists & former communists with little idea of how some of their policies will impact the economy and then families.

I'm voting Democrats for an independant house of review.

  • With Labor preferencing the Greens and the Liberals preferencing Family First, the Democrats are going to need to at least double their primary vote in the Senate from their current polling.

I really hope they can do it , as there must be a very good reason why Labor and Liberal have made such an effort in attempting to remove the only party that has ever been able to properly review their legislation.

C'mon Democrats you got to get your message out there more with only one week to go.

  • @nsakic The Australian Democrats are Centrist social liberal political party. Its main objectives are keeping government's accountable- they fight for a nuclear free future, human rights, action on water conservation, action on climate, workplace justice, caring for our aged and economic prosperity. The Democrats were once Australia's 3rd party with the balance of power in the Senate, unfortunately all Senate seats have been lost due to the rise of the Greens (stupid tree hugging party)- its sad

  • @Stephen19852009 the only reason that the Greens are the only main party going on about refugees etc is because the Democrats never get any media coverage. All that the Greens are is a Labor with an environmental twist. The Democrats are the true party for tolerance, fairness and compassion. If the Democrats were still in the Senate we'd hear a lot more from them- and the big thing they have over the Green is that most of the Democrats' policies have been proven that they would work

  • Hmm...don't take this the wrong way Laura, I know this was AGES ago, but many people feel that the Greens are the party of choice for social justice issues these days, they are the ones that are talking about fair treatment of refugees etc

  • what the hell happened to you guys?

  • 'Tash' ruined it for me....a class traitor, aspirationalist and wannabe somebody something to the end. Last time I looked she wasnt wearing DOC Martens it looked like Gucci or Prada.

  • I vote for you the only reason why is becouse your the only non racist non enviromental party that isn't liberal or labour but the thing is not many people actually now about the australian democrats when people ask who do you vote for there like who the hell are they.

  • The Greens will continue to push an pro-environment far-left agenda. The Democrats are always more likely to engage in a conversation with open minded review.

  • the democrats don't mind paying GST. they are certainly paying for it now.

  • So, how's it in Australia, Dems are considered left-wing-tree-huggers? .. that is the stance US has. We have dems too but we call them liberals. For example, the province on Ontario votes liberal and whoever wins Ontario wins Canadian elections. Heck, we go out to vote, just so to keep Conservative out of power. There is more to it than that.

So, what is the view of Democrats in Australia? In gen

  • I swear to god most people just look for "reasons" to attack the democrats, and if they cant find one, they will just twist their words.
