My father in law owns the closest motel to the falls. I've been there swimming and you can actually sit under the falls... there's like a ledge under there.
As for jumping it? Not safe at all. The water at the bottom isnt that deep in some places. You really have to feel around when you're walking and get some good footing. So... Whatever.
Aaaand the park doesn't allow it... But there isn't exactly a person sitting there watching. Ever.

they do end up jumping, twice actually, me n my buddy were up the when they did it. the guys are from romeo and were finishing off a to do list of things they wanted to do in michigan before they moved to canada.
