Ever wonder if gunshots really throw people through the air like they were hit by a car? Here is an excerpt from a hard to find in the original production VHS format documentary video called "Deadly Weapons: Firearms and Firepower" from 1984. Even though it is a 27 year old video, I highly recommend viewing it in it's entirety as it dispells many common myths regarding firearms and ballistics.
Richard Davis, the guy wearing the blue Second Chance shirt, was famous during the 80s and 90s for demonstrating the reliability of his company's body armor by shooting himself while wearing one of their vests. Unfortunately, the company he founded had to declare bankruptcy in 2005 due to a failure of and subsequent recall of their Zylon constructed vests. Second Chance was eventually bought out and remained in operation by Safariland, but then closed it's doors for good in 2009.
I spent quite a bit of time at Richard's place and the factory at Central Lake in the late 70's & early 80's...even wearing one of his Hardcorp 3 vests while serving in the Rhodesian Army. It is a shame what happened to the company after the Zylon vest debacle - a lot of people who worked at the factory in Central Lake were adversley affected...sad ending for a product that saved a lot of police officers and soldiers.
