The U.S. government classifies marijuana—along with heroin and LSD—as a Schedule I drug, the most tightly restricted category of drugs in the United States. According to the federal government, Schedule I drugs are unsafe and have "no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States."

Really?

As medical marijuana proponents have pointed out since the Controlled Substances Act was passed by Congress in 1970, cannabis has been used medicinally for thousands of years, and there has never been a reported case of a marijuana overdose. Moreover, in recent years clinical researchers around the world have demonstrated the medicinal value of cannabis.

We talked to a doctor, a pharmacist, and a patient to get three firsthand perspectives on medical cannabis. Special thanks to Dr. Donald Abrams, JoAnna LaForce and Don Grubbs.

Approximately 10 minutes. Produced by Paul Feine and Alex Manning.

  • Cannabis is schedule one which basically says it has no medicinal use what so ever. Obviously that is wrong as clearly it helps some people. So the schedule needs to be changed.

As a recreational drug it is much safer than what have today. So the prohibition needs to be lifted from cannabis. Why would someone in DC be legislating what I can do with my brain? Especially if it is safer than the legal alternative mainly alcohol. I reject this interference with my freedom and civil liberty.

  • @monkeyfire087

They do testing in many other places especially in Germany and the Netherlands, the US is not the only country in the world you know.

Theres been MANY legitimate tests to see cannabinoids effect on the body and almost none of them come back saying something negative.

  • Great video in terms of interviewing and compliation. I totally support legalization of cannabis. The real damage is caused by prohibition enforcement and not the plant itself. It should be legal to use recreationally and medicinally/therapuetically. Go do some more research and advocate legalization! Thanks, and have a nice evening!

  • Its good to see that george bush jr is still up and around.

  • I love to smoke pot, but the more I hear and learn about medical marijuana usage, the more I see how ignorant I , as a pothead, was. Just imagine, if I am ignorant about the medicinal aspect, how ignorant are the politicians and especially the economical side of the pharmaceutical firms?. How can they ignore this? The more I know, the more I realize how little I and therefore many others know!.

  • @NOstevecooley yeah but Soetero did use crack cocaine, there are witnesses.

  • @tanksta0wns lol it just looks badly trimmed to me

  • Oh for fuck's sake, why is this even a question? It's the Prohibition all over again! Are you seriously going to tell us that you learned NOTHING from that time? NOTHING from banning alcohol? NOTHING from mere century ago?

Fuck medical "cannabis" and fuck recreation "cannabis". It's called HEMP.

HEMP can make clothes, plastics, fertilizers, food, drugs, oil, petrol and paper for virtually FREE. You know, all these things we us this thing called "oil" (and wood and linen) to make?..

  • On another note...

NO on Steve Cooley (against cannabis/patients rights)

  • Obama said he smoked cannabis... if he would've said he tried crack... he wouldn't be president today.

    YES on Prop. 19

  • Help Legalize Marijuana! go to norml(.)org and contact your government officials.

Let your voice be heard! We Can make a difference!
