On April 8, 2008, John J. Sweeney, President of the AFL-CIO, spoke at the U. of Baltimore Law School. He addressed a wide range of issues concerning Organized Labor's role in an evolving global-based economy. During the Q&A period, he answered a query about the AFTRA-SAG dispute. Mr. Sweeney said that he and his staff are working closely with both unions to move forward on "joint bargaining" with the industry on the upcoming contracts. His talk was sponsored by the law school's "Leaders in Labor Speaker Series." For background, see: http://www.ubalt.edu/calendar/EventDetail.cfm?eventId=4004&path=0 and http://www.aflcio.org/.
