This is part one of three parts looking at government/social housing projects in downtown Toronto. This video starts with the very first projects ever built in Canada, which also happen to be the largest in the country and worst social housing projects in the city, which is why they are starting to be redeveloped. Regent Park was the first such project, the largest and most notorious of the bunch. It's reputation is much worse than the actual reality but it's still nice to see it being, not only redeveloped, but done in such a thoughtful and attractive way.
Part 2 of "The Evolution Of Social Housing In Downtown Toronto" shows how new ideas effected the projects built in the 70's to 2000's and the vast improventnts in structure and design, in neighbourhoods like St. Lawrence/The Esplanade.
Part 3 is all about the new building being built right now.

  • I hear Toronto has some of the nicest projects in the world............

  • They are definitely improving, that's for sure. They don't look like housing projects anymore. Hell, some look better than the condos. I think Toronto learned from it's previous mistakes.

  • cleaning cop cars LOL wtf man to man gyal to gyal dats wrong and coperating with pigs

  • Oh give it a rest. lol It's probably some deal where the police and the community work together. Is there something wrong with the kids in Regent Park and the police getting along? It's not like it's a war zone or something.

  • why not go in st jamestown or moss park , like closer to the buildings or in the neighborhood, its really sketchy and messed up in there :/

  • why the homophobia? RegentParkstan? homosexuality is found in 420 species and homophobia is only found in 1! you have no say over other peoples lives so just live your own. Stop judging what others are doing because you're insecure about your own life. If you had learned about diversity in gender and sexuality, not just bias judgmental views from a young age, you wouldn't be saying that. You're a puppet and you need to learn to think and live for yourself.

  • back in the day at night time the center would be packed full of homies huslting as did all the spots in RP , the cops done fucked up the hood
