The reason they probably paired them together is because Scott was supposed to do a duet with Billy Joel, but Billy Joel cancelled...so they put Scott into a duet with another finalist who could play the piano.

Matt was my favorite Season 8 contestant from the get-go. And he's gotten better since then. Great singer, amazing pianist.

Matt is leagues above Scott. I really don´t know why they pair them together, THey are so different.
Matt can sing circles around Scott. Just saying.. And his piano skills are way better,

@penguivader I actually saw him when they came to LA for the live tour and scott surprised me the most because he was way better live then he was on the TV. He was really good.

Scott only made it past the auditions because of the sympathy crap. If the judges and America only judged contestants on their voice and stage appearance, Matt would have easily won.
