(continued)............I think volunteering in a program would be much more helpful for these students than a simple manequin and MUCH more cost effective. Most hospitals and Hospices have a volunteer program that allows student nurses a very real, very valuable experience in end of life care.

they are both my aunts maura and my aunt marilyn they did this after my dad had surgery

its difficult to get grants/donations to the small nursing schools that are trying to provide a well rounded education to students. There aren't enough clinical sites to provide students with the experience they need. Obtaining a simulation mannequin would be a blessing........getting the money to obtain one is another subject

hard to believe with all of our resources in California, we are in such dire straits when it comes to nurses. makes me sick. no pun intended. kudos to CSUSB and Dr. Stoner!

I agree. A compassionate and wonderful instructor & human being. The nursing field needs more like her!

Great job Dr. Smith-Stoner! We need more educators with her passion and vision!

It's about time someone came up with something like this. Good job!

That mannequin is pretty cool... Good job Dr. Smith-Stoner and all those at the nursing school at CSUSB!
I just saw something like this mannequin in TIME magazine. They were testing doctors or nurses on it for responses to different emergencies. This is really great!
