One word : genius. Notwithstanding the quality of the recording one thing is absolutely incredible: the usage of the pedal in the doppio movimento....
The way in which Sofronitsky expresses the tragedy of this piece left me breathless.

Thanks for this. The first part is magnificent and the doppio movimento begins in a very interesting way. I don't really like the end, rubato, dynamics, too dotted rhythm make it a bit heavy, but it is a very good rendition nonetheless. Thanks again.
You misspelled his first name in the title. I can't believe nobody has pointed this out in two months. I am a professional proofreader, which is how I see these things.
