The Dead Flag Blues

This work was inspired by the September 11 tragedies. This video is done in commemoration of the loss from that day. This work combines the works of Godspeed You Black Emperor's Dead Flag Blues and various Adobe clips that are included in the Adobe Premiere package and various news agency clips from the September 11 attacks. The video clips used strictly for artistic purposes. It was used as a demonstration of using Adobe Premiere to create a music video. The clips were generated by using Quicktime to export the frame stills. Use Adobe Photoshop's actions to run various filters on each frame. Use Quicktime to recompile all the frames. Export it to Adobe Premiere where the sound would be added and finally exported.

what is not music about it? they use instruments, patterns that are based on timed signature, etc...? The closest thing I could compare it to is 20th Century Classical Contemporary. What is really music then - Bands that play in 4/4 with typical love lyrics? I'd say that they're not really pop. If they are not music, then Kronos Quartet, Giorgi Ligeti and others would not be considered music.

I think that everyone has great ideas as to what this video means, and that it depends upon what tragedy really moves a person. Whether it be, 9/11, the Holocaust, The displacement of Native Americans in North America, or the book of Revelations, they are all great opinions. It could also have something to do with jail considering that it was written for an unfinished film project by Efrim Menuck a founding member of the band. I apologize for the terrible grammar lol.

i know what you mean though with the contradiction. it seems that whenever someone or a group of people try to become that outspoken, they overrun themselves in contradiction. having strong views on anything is a tough thing to do and uphold.

I know... But this would fit better. This of course is disregarding the fact that Godspeed! publicly denounced any type of mainstream musical contact.. And here they are putting their music in films, making them completely reprehensible to any statement or effort at pseudo-intellectuality in which they would have conducted prior. Don't get me wrong, I love Godspeed, there just leaning abit too morally gray for my taste. They drown in contradiction.

About 911 being a government conspiracy....who gives a fuck? Why does it matter? It wasn't that big of an attack, and even if the government didn't directly do it there's proof they knew about it. So what about the 1 million + dead in Iraq or the millions dead in Afghanistan? The government has killed millions more, the fact that a relativly small amount of Americans might have been killed by the U.S. doesn't matter at all. So who gives a fuck who did it?
