If I climb a dirt road slope with good size rocks and have to stop, my Matrix w/manual tranny FWD wheels will spin unless I press the VSC button in order to start moving again. This suggests traction control is not automatic in my car.

It does help get me out of trouble often. Great system

I can easily do that without help of software. A good driver do not need traction control system or abs.

Thank you, I am truly interested in all of the stability system issues and I enjoyed your production very much. Toyota wasn't as much predictable as I expected, but Lexus systems are amazingly saving the car immediately and smoothly even on the very hard surface.
I think everyone is missing the point. This is not a Toyota versus Lexus video, it is a ABS versus VSC versus VDIM video.
Several Toyotas do indeed have VDIM and perform exactly like the Lexus, but most Lexuses only have VSC and will perform just like the Toyota in the video.
The primary difference between VSC and VDIM is the addition of electric power steering, and most Lexuses don't have that yet.
