Sword of Legends Teaser, Tech Demo

This is my current project, Sword of Legends; a platform/action-RPG with emphasis on hack & slash gameplay and exploration of a vast, medieval fantasy world. The player controls a young hero who learns an array of sword techniques that have been passed on from the allies of his late father as he embarks on an epic quest to retrieve the Sword of Legends. The adventure spans across land, under water, and high into the skies with the aid of rare treasures like the Diving Helmet and Icarus Shoes.

I am doing the art and design for this game, while my friend Troy Thompson (otherwise known as DeadHeat) is building the game in Game Maker. Progress is going smoothly, and in terms of core mechanics we are about 50% complete. In terms of game content we are probably only 5% at this point, as the game is expected to be quite vast. There is no definite release date as of right now, but I estimate it will be sometime in late 2009.

Ah, sorta reminds me of a now-abandoned indie game called Super Fighting Hyper Action Sidescrolling Oldschool Mega Awesome RPG. Ever played it? The gameplay looks just SLIGHTLY inspired by it...

Sorry, these sprites and tiles are not open source. We worked hard to make them and haven't even released the game yet.
