Hey all, just here to share my latest creation. It took me about a month and a half to get this up and into the UDK (learning time included). The texture, frankly is crap. I can't do any better because I'm not really a photoshop guy.

Hailfire Droid modelled in Maya, textured with Photoshop, into the UDK Engine (and it's fun to play with). One of the problems at the moment is if I try to turn the vehicle before it travels forward a bit, it will stay in one place. I think it's due to my weird wheel setup (6 wheels), but I'm not too sure how to fix at this point.

The next goal is to program the bottom turret for a second player, and try and figure out this turning problem.

Stay tuned, in the next few weeks I'll be bringing in a Star Wars weapon (DC-15A) to the UDK.

  • Haha, wow! Now that is cool - is this the first UDK vehicle you've done?

  • @PubGamesAU Indeed it is, but it's not the only Star Wars content I plan on doing. Right now I'm modelling a battle droid, after that, probably a pair of Clone Trooper arms to go with my Blaster rifle (another of my video's), and after that I might even model an AT-TE (those awesome pre-AT-AT Walkers with the massive cannon on their back).

I'm still tossing up to whether I should just make a Clone Wars game/multiplayer game.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • Nice job there.

You should make the rocket pods to rotate towards the aiming. Cuz' it whould look weird if the rocket pods aim forward and shoot sideways.

  • @DhaShredder I recently fixed the pods rotation constraint so that they would rotate up and down. Although seriously I dont think the pods need to rotate in the direction of the cursor, since the rockets by default fly out and then turn towards the firing direction. Plus the way the bones are set up, you get these weird geometry issues (pods clipping through the hull of the droid, etc).

Thanks for the comments guys. Dont forget to check out my newer video showcasing a Cone Trooper blaster.

  • That's awesome! Love Star Wars and am very interested in game design. Is UDK a friendly tool to someone who has no programming knowledge? I'd like to try it out.

  • Amazing... But re-texture would be really good

  • it's coming along very nicely
