the term nepal starts from 4th BCE. before that, the himalayas region was known as "kiratdesh"

Secondly the term "nepal" came from kirati word "nepala". the kirati meaning of nepala is "yo bhumi afai bolchha"("the land says itself" )

@heartnepal We were in Nepal in 1993. Our son was working there in the Peace Corps. I wore out my hiking boots...walked so much and loved every minute of it. We visited Chitwan National Park and did the annapurna circuit. Went to every town we could. the Nepalis are lovely people. Namaste, my friend.
