I think it's very interesting how you dissected this song so much. Sampled songs are always fun to unravel and take apart (although I don't know I would have had the patience to do what you did). Mis respetos (I didn't know the RIO part).

@taurus2leo Chaka Khan and Rufus' original version was in 1978. Wolinksi was a keyboardist and songwriter for the group. Chicago's cover came later, in 1979. I like both versions, but just wanted to point out that eoblas is correct. See wikipedia or allmusicguide.

this is hot but one of the best dissections of a song is Nautilus by Bob James

Wolinski was in Rufus when the song was written, he also co wrote many other songs with Rufus. Chicago did not record Street Player till the year after it was recorded by Rufus, Rufus Street Player released by ABC records 1978. Chicago 13 released by Columbia 1979.

It wasn't chicago's song originally, do a search for Rufus with Chaka Khan

Peter Cetera is a maniac!

really, most of these versions are irrelevant to the Pit Bull Song. Only the original Chicago song and the Brazilian versions. All those "Bomb" remixes were simply house tracks with the original sample. It wasn't until 75 Street, Brasil, etc. that the track comes together the way Pit Bull used it.
