I created this video mashup to . . .
•encourage critical thinking,
•help educate viewers,
•promote discussion of unwitting or unintentional media bias and questionable police activities,
•highlight the juxtaposition between official pronouncements and actual events on the ground in Pittsburgh, and
•pose critical questions concerning differences between U.S. and foreign news coverage of the 2009 Pittsburgh Summit, as well as amateur versus professional media portrayals of the G-20 protests.
I hope my work creates new understandings, enriches the general public, and stimulates commentary. I trust that viewers will find it informative and insightful.
While this video may be perceived by some as being unduly critical of American media coverage or police activities, it is not intended to impugn or malign the intentions or motives of specific journalists, officials, or police officers. Indeed, I honestly believe that nearly all government officials and journalists in the United States are sincerely attempting to meet the highest ethical standards.
For some of the best coverage of what actually happened on the streets of Pittsburgh during the G-20, see
