KPFA Weekend News, August 22, 2010. Both Ugandans and Burundians are also fighting to defend the U.S.-backed government in Somalia, where, in the third week of May, Thomas Mountain reported a refugee nightmare, in "UN Cuts Food, Expands War in Somalia," http://afrobeatradio.net/2011/05/28/un-cuts-food-expands-war-in-somalia/. On April 29th, Somali Reports reported that the U.S. has requested Rwandan troops in Somalia as well: http://www.somaliareport.com/index.php/subcategory/19/Media_MONITOR/Print_/04....

  • Disclaimer: No one goes to Iraq without knowing the dangers there. They go despite the risk because of economics. Many of these Ugandan mercenaries are earning far more than they could have dreamed of back home. And any more will go to Iraq if needed mindful of risk

  • Now they tell us there are US special forces in Uganda as 'advisors', i'd be quite surprised if what they are trying doing nothing less than train a private army. Ugandan blood is a hell of a lot cheaper than mercs from anywhere else. Blackwater pretty much proved that mercs operate outside the bounds of any law. Now they have mercs twice seperated from the US! I promise you NOTHING good will come of this.

  • This is so true. I worked alongside theses Ugandans in Baghdad. They are basically modern day slaves.
