One of my favorite players of all time... PISTOL PETE... We miss you so much... Thank You for giving us so many thrills playing the game you loved so much... We will always remember you !!!

This makes me realize even more there is nothing new under the sun, that our parents experienced just as talented players as Kobe or Jordan or Bird.

IMO Oscar Robertson really invented the earliest example of the crossover. Pistol Pete followed him and than Nate Archibald used it. Isiah Thomas was the first to do the "killer" crossover we see today,

@PatrickEganLong ok you ve got a point. if you want to name awesome white players, not just americans you can add Dirk Nowitski, Nash, Pau and Marc Gasol, Ricky Rubio, Manu Ginobili, it s ok, black players are more athletic and they are a majority, but all of these guys are quality starters or stars in their teams, your explanation is good i just didnt like the other guy s phrase

WHAT IS THIS SONG SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME !!!

That's not to say there aren't AWESOME white players, they're rare though. I love a player for their game not their color, obviously, but I'd love a new Pistol or Jerry West or Rick Barry (if he wasn't such a dick) or Chris Mullins! They bring something unique to BBall!

Brainwashed not by a group but by American culture, everybody hears blacks are superior at basketball, by science it is true, but even in football coaches are known to push players in to certain positions by their race (i.e. white's to QB or TE black's to WR or RB) . That holds some water because biologically Blacks are faster and quicker than whites and whites are framed stronger than blacks. In this very same way athletic whites are pushed away from bball. It's a shame!

did he invented the crossover ?
he has complicated moves back in the days were people playing simple basketball

@2727taterbug brainwashed by who? the black corporations?? I guess you dont watch NBA, what you say is offensive for great players like Kevin Love, Jason Kid or even Jimmer Fredette who didn t came out of the gates in the best way (and im not talking about historical players). You reminded me to South Park´s "they took ur jub!"
-
He was the mix among Steve Nash, Jason Kidd and Magic Johnson
This was before white American boys were brainwashed into believing that they could not play basketball at a high level.

Yesterday against the Heat I watched a young man who reminded me the great and only pistol pete. The reincarnation of Maravich grows inside of Ricky Rubio
