@Varicent Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy VI, Breath of Fire I and II, Chrono Trigger (The entire reason Cross exists), Secret Of Mana, Super Mario RPG, Lufia I and II, and I'm not even going to BEGIN to get into the JRPG list for the SNES. ;) But yeah, it was around 1995-2005 that the RPG generation had the magic. As soon as things hit mainstream more (around the time of PS2), good RPG's with these kinds of stories became harder and harder to find.

@Varicent I always knew that not only me understand that magical world of jrpg/rpg's on ps1. All titles and many more that you wrote are completed in 100% by me. Even now under my tv is old ps1 with almost all titles which somebody like me or you should have. Sometimes between work and my fiancee I am coming back for that times for some long hours of playing, mostly late in the evening. That will never die.

I think the SNES might give the PSX a run for it's money. FF 6, FF4, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Lufia 2, Super Mario RPG etc. I think a lot of PSX games took what was great in a lot of SNES games and improved it.
I think we can all agree that this generation of games by and large sucks with few exceptions the magic and wonder is gone. The technology is better but part of what made these games so great is they left things up to our imagination. Faces, voices, expressions etc.

This was truly an amazing game. Unlike games today I could play this game over and over and over in fact I did. I beat this game so many times. I wish they would remake it for ps3 and add more content this already f***ing epic game. Like more on the characters. This game was so sad it nearly made me cry.

I don't think any console will ever top the ps1 in terms of the best jrpg/rpg's ever made. I mean if you grew up with a ps1 and think thats not true, your lying to yourself. Chrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon, Vagrant Story, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, Legend of Mana, Valkyrie Profile, Grandia, Xenogears, etc etc etc. I DARE you to beat a line up like that.
