No disrespect, but I don't have anything to "get over". My comments are based on a hundred years or so tradition of referring to elder, more accomplished (and deceased) people by their last names. Presuming to know what she would think or whether or not I know these works on a "personal level" or not is interesting. Do you offer up other psychic services as well? Perhaps lottery numbers?

I find it inappropriate for the speaker to continually refer to Chopin as "Kate." As a teacher of Literature, I have never found myself referring to Shakespeare as "Will," Chaucer as "Geoff" or Twain as "Mark." Unless the speaker personally knew these individuals, it is disrespectful and presumptuous.

I have to laugh at your comment because your pretentiousness is showing. These authors are not gods, but people. Awesome amazing people who all have personalities and based upon my research of "Chopin" I think she would find it fantastic that I referred to her as Kate. No offense, but you should really step down from your pedestal and learn to enjoy these authors and get to know them from a personal level instead of an uptight academic one. Get over yourself.
