The launch of Futures Orissa project saw forty young entrepreneurs below 30 years of age brainstorm and deliberate on the future course of Orissas development. Also joined by young entrepreneur Christian Vani from Make Sense, France who is on a traveling mission across Asia to interact with successful social entrepreneurs, also shared inspiring best practices of social organizations across the country for Orissa.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest and industry secretary, Saurabh Garg underscored the need for branding Orissa outside the state. The state has been extremely doing well with average growth rate above the national average. It is true that the state also has the highest number of poor people. We need young innovators and social entrepreneurs to address the burning issues of development.

The launch of Futures Orissa project was facilitated by 19 year old scientist/entrepreneur and Nobel Foundations Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar (SIYSS) awardee, Apurv Mishra. Apurv Mishra said, we felt the need for all young entrepreneurs from the state to collaborate and work together towards a shared vision for the future of the state. And this vision was transformed to reality through the launch Futures Orissa project.

The Futures Orissa project would run as an independent and open project, where young entrepreneurs from the state would voluntarily work on different development parameters. This is a self evolving project where future trends of Orissa are charted through scientific trend analysis methods. Through this forum we wanted to sensitize the young entrepreneurs here to have a more responsible attitude towards a larger goal of Orissas growth along with the growth of their organizations, said Ravi Kumar an organizer of Futures Orissa project who presented a road map of Futures Orissa project.

Apurv facilitated the brainstorming session through scenario planning techniques on seven development projects: Healthcare, Poverty, Brand Orissa, Tourism, Industrialism, and Technology.
