The Senior Choir of Washington's Shiloh Baptist Church delivered a rousing anthem during the 10:55 a.m. October 28, 2007, service honoring the historic congregation's 93rd Anniversary of the Usher Board. The choir was directed by Thomas Dixon Tyler, with Evelyn Simpson Curenton on the 48-rank Casavant pipe organ. Many decades ago, Shiloh became the first black church in the nation's capital to develop a fully vested choir. Curenton's organ arrangements have been performed on NPR's "Pipe Dreams." • How often does this choir sing?

  • Not often enough! I've been intending to rearrange my schedule so that I attend only services featuring the Senior Choir. I've not figured out the schedule yet, however.

  • Second Sundays at the 7:45 a.m. service and Fourth Sundays at 10:55 a.m. service.
