Ah! do not reject my sinning soul!
Hear my cries and behold my repentance.
To my aid, Lord, speed in haste,
and take pity on my distress!
Turn away the blows of vengeful
justice, my Saviour!
O divine Redeemer! Pardon my
weakness!
In the secrecy of night I shall shed my tears,
I shall mortify my flesh under the
weight of the hair-shirt,
and my heart, chastised by the sacrifice of blood,
shall bless the kindly rigours of Thy hand!
