Those lyrics say it all.. I was born and raised on this song and there was NO WAY I was going to Tennessee without climbing Rocky Top.

There may be some debate as to whether this is really Rocky Top or not... Before you post anything different know that I was going off the official Smokey Mountains National Park Map and according to the map that is Rocky Top.

I didn't include the song in the video because I didn't want to take away from the footage. Certainly there are many versions of this song.. my all time favorite is the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band version, it is a high tempo blue grass version with a real Applachian feel to it. I can't stand the Dolly Parton or Loretta Lynn versions... Sorry girls. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band or BUST!!!

Agree, The Nitty Gritty Dirtband version is the best rocky top version I've ever heard... certainly better than Loretta Lynns version
