Billy Grammer moved his family to Phoenix, Arizona in the early 50's. When the family got settled, Billy joined a band called the Western Playboys. Billy can really lay it down when it comes to playing Western Swing. This video clip proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt. He flat out cuts loose and really shines on this piece. In 2005, Billy was invited to record a tune on the Bob Wills' A Tribute to Bob's 100th Birthday album. He contributed a Grammer penned original tune - Turkey Texas Blues. The album, produced by Tommy Alsup on the Common Ground label, is available on Amazon.com. Log on to: www.grammerguitar.com and go to Billy's Discography to hear a soundbite.
What a treasure. Thanks for posting these videos. Billy has a real influence on my playing. Grateful to God for him.

I have fond memories of visiting you and Ruth with Billy Jr and Dale Hicks at your Brentwood home! One memory in particular especially makes me smile. You were on guitar, Billy Jr was standing/dancing on his hands while playing the harmonica, the daugters were dancing with Billy Jr, while the rest of us clapped along! Tell Billy Jr that I would love to hear from him. Please give Ruth, Billy Jr, and the rest of your family my love!

My Grandfather used to work with Billy many years ago, and has told wonderful stories about Billy and Archie. Glad to see this on youtube for future generations to enjoy!
