@cdman882: never said such a thing, but as my memory serves me, mcelroy in high school was supposedly "not nearly as good" as gilbert, and yet miraculously still got a championship ring.
just goes to show how pretty the spread offense looks against the oklahoma school for the deaf or the baylor cupcake bakers, but sadly not against a real team.

@cdman882: you act like gilbert's never started a game period. is he not the same garrett gilbert who holds the texas high school record for most yards in a season?
college football and large-scale high school football are quite similar, so don't act like it's going from baseball to soccer.

@PooPoo2U Yes, but he did have a whole season under his belt come championship time (not that he really did anything in the game) and he spent three years at Bama before he even touched the field. It's really funny how you Tide fans try to gloss over the fact that McCoy was a 45 game winner who went out, and was replaced by a Gilbert who hadn't even started a game, much less won one. Losing your team leader is a much bigger deal than you try to make it.
