The Skoal Bandit gang was halved at 19.45pm when Rupert Keegan, having just taken over from Guy Edwards, lost the 962 at Indianapolis:

"I turned in and the car just went straight on." He got it back to the pits, but inspection by John Fitzpatrick's mechanics of the front suspension damage dictated retirement.

After five hours of racing, this was only the second car to be wheeled away, joining the Grid on the 'liste des abandons.'

  • @FOXnewsAlien - define exotic.

In 1984 you didn't get much more exotic than a Porsche 956 or 962.

  • @FOXnewsAlien what?

  • Best racing is exotics
