I remember having a Magazine a while back with this on a Nw-2 switcher i belive. Its been years scince ive seen the magazine. SO my guess would be a switcher :p
Since it's gray and not red, my guess would be that it came off of a G.E. or Alco or possibly a switcher. Most of these types of engines had at least one of these lights in the gray portion of the units. EMD's (except for the switchers) had these lights in the red areas on the nose and rear of the units. I've been wanting one of these forever! Where did you get it?

GE U33C, SW-1200, SW-6, NW-2, U50C, or an SW1500 (The headlights & gyralights are grey on the cab end of the SW-1500)
