He's purposefully putting on the accent. In other interviews with UK or NZ interviewers his normal accent is there.

A lot of Oz and NZ actors have no choice but to talk in a calmed down, more American accent. It's amazing the number of people that just don't understand what they're saying at all. Same with Scots.

@fightinside1 It's not his regular accent - if you watch the bonus features for RED there's clips of him talking in his normal kiwi accent. This is some weird American-esque accent he's putting on

@lilymacs when people live/work/travel in another country for so long, they start to lose their native accent and pick up the accent of the place they're visiting........Karl's spent a lot of time in America, so he's picked up a little bit of an American accent lost lost a little bit of his Kiwi accent........
