David Rogers, the Monday Morning Mechanic explains the benefits of having a technician perform a Motorvac service on your car. For more information about the Monday Morning Mechanic, visit his website at www.mondaymorningmechanic.com!
This problem of build up has actually been heavily discussed in many car club websites, but I've specially noticed it on 4-cylinders and imports. The Aeriostyle(dot)com website for example has one thread that is over 19 pages long, all on people trying to deal with this oil vapor recyling build up problem, and it being noticeable even on what would be considered low miles, liek 20k +. Some people have resorted to "seperators" to divert the oil vapor, but MotorVac will also clean it out 100%
Carbon build up seems to be a common problem with newer cars now, quite possibly because of the newer extremely strict emissions standards. The cars have to "recycle" oil fumes back into the intake (pcv) and there is no doubt that this vaporized oil is causing build up, gumming up systems (decreasing acceleration and mpg's) slowly so you might not even notice it UNTIL you get a MotorVac cleaning like I did.
The dealership where I took my Suzuki Aerio for a 30,000 mile service (I was a bit behind, it had slightly over 34k on it) automatically includes the MotorVac fuel system clean as part of the 30,000 mile service. I always use good quality gasoline mainly Chevron but also Shell if I'm not near a Chevron station. Additionally I do techron cleaner every 3000 miles. Despite all the preventative maintenance I do, the MotorVac service still made a NOTICABLE difference! Better MPG's, Better pick-up!
Hmm , the fuel injector service. They're right up there with chimney sweeps and credit repair companies. ALL grades of fuel have detergents in them - it's mandated by law. All of you would be surprised how clean today's engines are when you strip them down.
As for the dirty fuel in 1:33, the only repair is to drain and flush your fuel tank. The only preventive measure is to avoid contaminated fuel station tanks. If this is a customer's car, the gas was likely purchased from the same source!
I had this motorvac service done on a 2001 Tahoe that was very sluggish. I went with the tech on test drive and black smoke bellowed from my exhaust. He explained that the chemical is not a solvent that mixes with gas, it is a detergant that runs the car and cleans the system. My fuel mileage improved and my acceleration from a stop sign is like a new car. It is worth the $ 175.00
