the secrets to a good cover is these. you dont have to reinvent the song. you simply invoke your own emotion into the song. it should not sound like the original (its already been done) but should be recognizable. and lastly and maybe most importantly, when pitch, tone, or tempo is added to the song and you say to yourself-' hmmm...it woulda been all right if the original had sounded like that'...now you have a cover

Actually it's a Loggins and Messina song from the early 70's. Anne Murray did do a cover though a couple years later.
