  • This video was uploaded for people who enjoy this version. I am not in anyway saying this version is better than the original, I think they are both great oldies! Please no name calling here! :)

  • What year was this song done??

  • I think that was 1959 or 1960

  • You just brought me back to a dance in the late fifties where I met Skip and Flip. Thanks a lot for the memory. : )

  • You're most welcome :)

  • Thank you for this opportunity to enjoy a beautiful melody from the late 1950s. What often passes for music today leaves a lot to be desired. We should try to change an industry that panders to the worst side of human nature.

  • Who was who??? Which one is skip batton and gary s patton help me please?

  • @tallthingy923 That's not what I mean. To me, cherry pie is sexually suggestive, and in the older version by Marvin & Johnny, you can catch that little dirty hint through the way they sing it. With Flip & Skip, it doesn't feel so sexy anymore. That's what I mean when I say it sounds cleaner.

  • @jvondd The reason why this one sound more "cleaner" is because white people back in that time had the money and resources to get the best equipment where as African Americans all over time have been trying to make a dollar out of fifteen cents and got what ever recording equipment they could get that meets their budget....

  • bought this record when first released. thought the version was pretty good for a cover of great song done by Marv and Johnny.

  • It's weird listening to the Marvin & Johnny version and then hearing Skip & Flip's take on it. This version sounds much cleaner...almost too clean.

  • George Carlins version is better.

  • i love the intro to this i wish it was longer

  • The mono version actually sounds better. The way they panned the instruments makes it sound off balance. Due to most early tape machines have very few channels to work with, instead of recording the band in stereo they would record 2 or 3 tracks in mono and overdub the rest and pan either left or right. This would give it that ping pong effect or have a "hole in the middle"
