Ongoing research on the Saw-whet owl led by Drew Jones at the Hopkins forest in Williamstown,Ma. The owls are lured into a large net during the night via an audio call which imitates the owls call that is broadcast into the forest. Data such as weight, beak size, talon size, body fat, and plumage are taken. A leg band is placed on each owl in an effort to track where the owl may go. After all the data is recorded each owl is released unharmed back to the forest.
